Tenn. - A local veteran's service representative allegedly stole more than $100,000 from veterans, according to an investigation by the office of the VA Inspector General.The report says the unnamed employee frequently traveled whenever and wherever he wanted, used a government expense card to buy liquor and entertain female companions, and on one occasion bought $170 worth of personal items at Target.It should be treasonous especially when you talk about the amount of people that are affected, said J.C. Smith of Operation Stand Down Nashville. Not just the veterans but the veterans' families as well.The report also says the man moved to Washington D.C. Fenruary, 2013 even though he was officially stationed in Nashville, which resulted in a number of veterans claims falling through the cracks.Causing delays in veterans receiving the benefits, that's pretty low, said Kirk Matteson, veteran.The report also says the VA employee also used his government laptop to send sexually explicit images to women.It's very disrespectful, Matteson said. It's very un-American.
